Physiotherapy FAQ

Is there a waiting list?

No! Sometimes same-day appointments are available. We can usually see you within 24 - 48 hours.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No! You can book your appointment directly with the clinic, although some insurance companies require referrals from a GP; in this case check with your provider beforehand.

How long do appointments last?

Initial appointments take about 60 minutes and include a full assessment plus treatment. Follow-up appointments can last for 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the individual needs of the patient.

What can I expect from my first appointment?

Once you arrive at the clinic, you will enter the comfortable waiting area where refreshments are always available. Your physiotherapist will then come and greet you and lead you into one of the private treatment rooms. The physiotherapist will first take a detailed background of your history to establish exactly where you are having pain, the cause and how it is affecting you. They will then conduct a thorough musculo-skeletal examination and movement observations, leading to an accurate diagnosis of your injury or condition. Everything within the appointment will be discussed with you in easy-to-understand terms – after all, the appointment is about you! The physiotherapist will then tailor a treatment plan to your individual needs, getting you back to your optimum health as quickly as possible – this means you have started your journey to recovery! Treatment usually involves a combination of advice, exercises, mobilisation, massage, manipulation, exercise therapies, stretches, and core strengthening. At the end of the appointment the physiotherapist will advise you of the next steps in the treatment process, which can sometimes involve an exercise program to carry out at home.

How many treatments do patients normally require?

Each patient is different but our Physiotherapists always aim to get you back to optimum health as quickly as possible! During your first appointment your therapist will outline your treatment plan and the number of treatments.

How can I pay for my treatment?

Payment is made after each treatment by either cash, card or cheque.

There are numerous pay and display parking facilities within close proximity to the clinic. However, the 2 hours free parking provision at the Sainsbury store in Wade Street (HX1 1SB), is less than a 5 minute walk from the clinic.
